For a while now I have been wanting to take the step into children’s fine art photography, and after months of portfolio building, i am delighted to say that i now offer these children’s sessions at my glasgow studio!
Photographer’s, as well as many other artists and creatives are always inspired by other’s around us. Last year when I was researching fine art work I stumbled across the photographer goddesses that are Lisa Visser and Paulina Duczman and there was literally no going back. It was one of those moments that once I had seen the art that they created, both unique in their own styles but both equally amazing I just new that thei style of photography would be right up my street!
And so armed with inspiration I spent the next few months studying the art of fine art portraiture, I browsed thousands of images, dissecting them all, the styling, the lighting, the editing style and I quickly realised that fine art is far too broad of a category to really categorise because there are so many different takes on it. Fine art , unlike other areas of photography, is more about the photographer’s own vision, being able to express their imagination and creativity, and since we are all individuals we all have our own interpretation of what makes a fine art portrait
personally for me, fine art is about a feeling. When i picture an image in my mind it creates a feeling of serentity & soulfullness. This style of photography is about more than just taking a photograph, the click of the shutter is just one step of many, from planning the perfect outfit, hairstyling and backdrop to precision editing in lightroom and photoshop to create something completely unique that will evoke emotion, whatever that may be for the viewer.
Luckily for me I have the most amazing model who lets me practice whenever I ask (although this does cost e a fiver a go these days!) My daughter ayma is 8 years old and loves, loves, loves having her picture taken! And from her own emission her favourite part of each session is having her hair done, wearing something new and feeling like a real model, bless her
Some of the images I have taken of Ayma I entered into competitions and was delighted to see recognition for my work, I hope to do much more of that this year!
During my years in this business I have been fortunate enought to make some amazing photographer friends! and with their kids permission they happily let me take some images to build my portfolio further! Bella, Cole & Caragh were all absolutely amazing and I couldnt be happier with how these images have turned out!
